By Joe Vitale:
Nick Chubb’s rehab is progressing greatly, largely due to the fact that Chubb is a freak of nature who most likely enjoys rebuilding strength in his surgically repaired left knee.
On Wednesday morning, Kirby Smart provided UGA fans with another update on Chubb’s knee while sitting in with 680 The Fan, broadcasted from the Butts-Mehre complex.
Good news for UGA fans is that Chubb is able to run again. “His psyche is he’s still a little tentative right now,” Smart said. “Because he’s just started to run some and do some things.”
Chubb running again is great news, however, it is not enough evidence to lead Kirby to place a date on the return of the Cedartown native. When Chubb will be available to play in a game for UGA is still unknown.
“To say he’s going to be ready Day 1 or he’s gonna be ready Game 1, I think we’re a long way away from that right now,” Smart said. “We want to do what’s right for Nick long term. And that’s the most important thing. He feels comfortable with that, (head athletic trainer) Ron (Courson) feels comfortable with that.”
Chubb is rehabbing extremely hard, according to Kirby. Last week the head coach provided us with this insight into Chubb’s impressive work ethic: “Nick’s a kid that wants to do extra, is very, very disciplined in his rehab. Every day I come in there, he’s in there rehabbing. Every day I leave, he’s in there doing something.”
