Former Georgia and current New England wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell spent his NFL bye week in Savannah reading to children and donating 3,700 copies of his children’s book “The Magician’s Hat” to the Savannah-Chatham County School system.

A graduate of Valdosta High, Mitchell finished his UGA career third in school history with 174 receptions for 2,350 yards and 16 touchdowns. After coming back from a serious ACL injury, Mitchell led the Bulldogs in his senior year with 58 receptions and a team high 865 receiving yards.

He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Patriots and opened the year as the number 3 receiver. Mitchell has six receptions for 82 yards for division-leading New England. He’s back in action on Sunday night when the 7-1 Pats host Seattle.
